Dear all,
sharing for those interested in the response to COVID-19 in specific countries, the very comprehensive Child Protection Dashboard of UNICEF Bangladesh.
It highlights that "Bangladesh already has a high level of violence against children, a high instance of child labour, and a significant number of children living on the streets and in institutions. Over 45 million children (89 per cent) aged 1-14 have been exposed to violent discipline in the previous month. The measures undertaken to contain and suppress the spread of the virus, including lockdowns, quarantine and closed schools, are leaving children highly vulnerable to increased violence".
The dashboard provides details on the trends of violence against children, including child labour and child marriage and, in terms of CP response, shows statistics regarding virtual case work, child helplines, children reunified and reintegrated to community and people engaging in social media to post on preventing violence and to disseminate child protection and parenting tips.
For any question on Child Protection and COVID-19 in Bangladesh or on the dahsboard in particular don't hesitate to contact @Irene Tumwebaze, who is the CP Specialist based there with UNICEF (and also a member of this Forum) or to comment here.
